Midline stoma via the umbilicus versus traditional diverting loop ileostomy

Diverting loop ileostomies have traditionally been fashioned in the right iliac fossa, but a novel technique of midline ileostomy at umbilical port site during colorectal surgeries described. We aim to compare outcomes after creation and reversal these two types ileostomy. Using retrospective study design, 10 consecutive patients who underwent were compared with traditional fossa stoma. Baseline characteristics, operating time, length stay complications for initial operation as well stoma between groups. There was no significant difference duration or complication rate formation, hospital longer group (10 vs 4.5 days, p = 0.04). After ileostomy, had significantly higher perioperative (50 0%, 0.03), there time stay.
